Court Action and Related Legal Fees

Clients are discouraged from having their therapist subpoenaed. Most of the time, it is discovered in conversation that what you are looking for can be obtained without requiring the therapist to be on the stand.

Even though you are responsible for the testimony and related fees, it does not mean that my testimony will be in your favor. I will only testify to the facts of the case and to my professional opinion.

Fees Relating to Appearing in Court

  • Preparation time including submission of records: $170/hr*

  • Communication (phone calls, emails, in-person, etc): $170/hr*

  • Testifying / Depositions: $170/hr*

  • Time away from office due to depositions, testifying, and travel time: $170/hr*

  • All attorney fees and related costs** incurred by the therapist as a result of the legal action

  • Minimum charge for a court appearance: $1500

*Hourly rates are broken down into quarter hour increments ($42.5/15 minutes):

Example A: 13 min phone conversation = 15 min = $42.5

Example B: 2 hrs 41 min travel time = 165 min = $467.5

Example C: 5 hrs 32 min waiting and testifying in court = 345 minutes = $977.5

**Hotel accommodations of up to $150/night for cases involving more than 75 miles travel time one way.
