Psychological Evaluations
Most psychological evaluations involve talking with the psychologist about yourself and your symptoms, completing some questionnaires and worksheets about yourself, and working through various measures and activities that look at how your brain is functioning.
Clinical Interview
First, we will talk about your concerns and what is bothering you currently (this could include concerns that others have for you as well). This interview can take between one and two hours.
Second, you will share pertinent background information including the topics of: developmental, medical, trauma, educational and work history.
Finally, you will share details of your current life including: who you live with, how you spend your free time, and relationship status. I will also ask for details about identity traits you find important. These include but are not limited to: gender identity, religious beliefs, and ethnicity.
Each clinical interview is done differently and tailored around your specific concerns.
Psychological Testing
After the clinical interview, you will complete some assessments, questionnaires, and activities that will assist us in addressing your concerns. At this time, if others have legal permission to provide input into your evaluation, that information will be gathered as well.
The amount of time required to complete the assessments, questionnaires, and activities will vary and depend on the purpose of the psychological evaluation. Analyzed evidence-based measures may include: intellectual, personality, projective, neuropsychological, and achievement.
Interpreting the results
Scoring, interpreting, and writing up the results typically take between 20-50 hours or 3-6 weeks, depending on the purpose and intricacy of the evaluation.
Once your final report is completed, I will reach out and we will schedule a time for you to come in. We will go over your report in detail and you will have an entire hour to discuss and ask questions regarding the diagnoses and recommendations. My goal is to make sure you have a firm grasp on the results and feel confident with your next steps.
You will receive an electronic copy and one physical copy of your final report so you can share your results with whomever you like.
How much does it cost?
The starting cost for an evaluation is $3400, with payment of at least half due at the time of the testing. Payment arrangements are available for remaining balances and there is a 20% discount if paid in full by the time we go over your results. We do not accept insurance for evaluations. If you have Medicare or Medicaid, please inquire, as we reserve a limited number of slots for that specific population.
